The co-enzyme Q10 (CoQ10), also known as ubiquinone, was discovered in man by Lamberts ®, Dr. Len Mervyn consultant. CoQ10 is a substance similar to vitamins that is located within the mitochondria in every cell of the body. Mitochondria are responsible for removing approximately 50% of the total energy contained in the food we eat. For this reason, it is not surprising to find the highest concentrations of CoQ10 in those bodies which have energy needs higher, as the muscle of the heart and liver and in those tissues that are regenerated quickly, such as the gums. The lack of CoQ10 has been linked to disorders in the gums. Similarly found that those with heart problems and obese people tend to have low levels of CoQ10. CoQ10 is found in foods, particularly in the viscera, but processing and cooking methods tend to destroy it, and although the body can manufacture it, this production goes down to the age. In fact, a lack of energy in the elderly can in part be related with a lower production of CoQ10 in the body. As with all nutrients, absorption is of vital importance. Our co-enzyme Q10 is presented in a vegetable oil base to facilitate their absorption, being backed by one of the first researchers who discovered the CoQ10.
