Silymarin is the active principle of the fruits of Silybum marianum, better known as thistle, a plant that grows throughout the Mediterranean, which was introduced in the United Kingdom by herbalists in the 16th century. Silymarin is composed of three isomers called silybin, silidanina, and silicristina, all of them classified as flavonolignanos, being the most important component the silybin. Milk Thistle is one of the herbs most widely studied today, with more than 300 scientific studies on its chemical properties and application. 8.5 Grams of milk thistle seeds are needed to obtain 286 mg of extract, the amount present in each one of our tablets. We use a standardized extract of ripe seeds, to guarantee 200 mg of Silymarin per tablet.
